The Christmas Story in a Google World

If Jesus were born in 2010, would it happen something like this? (Borrowed from my cousin Sandi's FB page.)

Twas The Night Before Christmas

Sal Monella tells his version of the story.

Santa is Coming for Stiller Fans

My sister-in-law is a Pittsburgher now living in Denver. She sent me this song that any true Stiller fan would understand without need for translation.

The Very Model of a Modern US President

Chilean Miner's Mistress Charged

Image
The collective world spirit was uplifted just a bit by the heroic rescue of the 33 Chilean Miners who had been trapped for more than 2 months within the dank bowels of the earth, subsisting on juice and spoonfuls of tuna . Throngs of media personnel, well-wishers and family members greeted each worker with cheers and patriotic anthems as they were hoisted from the darkness. A bit of tension hung in the air however when the 21st mine worker Yonni Barrios stepped from the rescue capsule into the waiting arms of his longtime mistress Susana Valenzuela. His wife of 28 years left the scene sometime earlier upon learning of her husbands infidelity. The somewhat bittersweet reunion ended rather abruptly when Chilean authorities stepped in and placed Ms. Valenzuela under arrest, charging her with sleeping with a miner.

PP - Framing

Image
Well I overindulged as usual! 2 sets of framed pictures framed by a window that is framed by the painted wall and all framed by the white polaroid border. Taken with iPhone at a local restaurant. Used CP Pro camera app then imported into Camera Bag app to apply "Polaroid" effect.

I like this picture because of the double exposure and collage-like effect. It is actually 1 shot taken with my Sony Cybershot set to "auto". It is taken from the sidewalk in front of a confectioner's shop in Niagara on the Lake, Ontario. The buildings and couple are reflections off the storefront window. Several juxtapositions here, I think: inside/outside; stillness of the candied apples/motion of the cars and walkers; old buildings/digital thermometer. This photo will always bring back fond memories of a relaxing weekend spent in this little town.

Obama To Make Reassuring Eye Contact With Every Last American JUNE 9, 2010 | ISSUE 46•23 Obama's calm, piercing gaze helps a jogger come to terms with the timetable for withdrawal of troops in Iraq. ROCKLAND, ME—In an attempt to convince an anxious populace that his legislative agenda is working and that everything is going to be all right, President Barack Obama embarked on a 50-state, 30,000-town tour Monday during which he plans to gaze assuredly into the eyes of each American citizen, one at a time. "I know a lot of people out there are nervous. They're worried about unemployment, the oil spill in the Gulf, and whether or not I am making the right choices in Washington," Obama said during a rally at Rockland District High School. "To those Americans, I offer you this inspiring, confident gaze." Obama then stepped down from his podium, walked into the 2,000-person audience, and peered comfortingly into each person's eyes. Sorry 'bout your nutty weather. Here, I'll share some of ours. I think I'll run out for a pizza too if my wife ever gets done shoveling the drive.

I knew I'd get good advice if I talked to an expert. I've ordered this pair online, not because I plan to ever ride a bicycle again but as you said "they're a real fashion statement."

These schools obviously won't be performing for the Superbowl halftime show.
